Moscow

The Russian capital is bold, cosmopolitan and confident, just as you’d expect it to be.  Founded on the banks of the Moskva River, it’s a forward thinking city with a long past.  You’ll find there the Ostankino Tower, the tallest freestanding structure in Europe, as well as the continent’s tallest skyscraper, the Federation Tower.  They’re undoubtedly impressive, but the city’s historic gems which exert an even bigger pull on tourists’ schedules.

Red Square is iconic, unmissable and eclectic.  The colourful domes of St Basil’s Cathedral dominate one side of the square as they have done since its construction centuries ago.  Nearby, browse the displays in the famous GUM department store or potter across to Lenin’s mausoleum where the revolutionary leader lies embalmed and at rest.  Inside the Kremlin, you’ll find a collection of churches and palaces as well as the official residence of the Russian President.
