Day 2

Terelj National Park day trip – enjoy hiking, horse-riding, visit a Nomad family
Our Mongolian adventure kicks off after breakfast with a journey to the breathtaking Terelj National Park, located 80 kilometers (50 miles) northeast of Ulan Bator. The day will be dedicated to immersing ourselves in the park's magnificent alpine scenery. This wild and photogenic setting offers fantastic opportunities for hiking, rock climbing, and even horseback riding. One of the park's unique attractions is Turtle Rock, a distinctive geological formation we'll explore. Following a delightful lunch at the camp, we'll embark on a hike to the captivating Aryabal Monastery, offering both a physical challenge and cultural enrichment. To gain deeper insights into Mongolian culture, we'll visit a local nomadic family, where we'll witness their traditional way of life. As the day comes to a close, we'll return to our hotel in Ulan Bator. The total driving distance for the day is approximately 80 km (50 miles). (B/L/D)

Baga Gazriin Chuluu (Middle Gobi)
Day 3
Visit Baga Gazriin Chuluu Lake and the ruins of Sum Khukh Burd Temple
We will set off early morning to begin our journey to Baga Gazriin Chuluu, an otherworldly formation of rocky mountains comprised of granite that glows red at sunset and sunrise. We will also visit the remains ruins of an ancient temple and explore the area by foot before taking a rest with a picnic lunch. Dinner will be at our ger camp where we will overnight. Tsagaan Suvarga
Day 4
Drive to Tsagaan Suvarga Rock
Following our morning meal, we'll embark on a journey to explore the ancient remains of the Sum Khukh Bird Temple. Subsequently, we'll proceed to Tsagaan Suvarga, an isolated and captivating white limestone cliff that astonishingly resembles a Buddhist stupa. We'll pause for a picturesque picnic, enjoying the breathtaking surroundings. Our day will conclude with a dinner and a restful overnight stay at a traditional ger camp. Following a swift yet delicious breakfast, we'll set out on a drive to the Khongor Sand Dunes, renowned as the Singing Dunes. Upon ascending these enchanting dunes, we'll be treated to a truly inspiring panoramic vista. As the evening approaches, we'll seize the opportunity to witness the sensational sunset, so be sure your cameras are at the ready! Day 7
Explore Flaming Cliffs (Bayan Zag) - the Gobi Dinosaurs Cemetery
Our next destination promises another encounter with nature's marvels as we journey to the renowned Flaming Cliffs, also known as Bayanzag, or the saxaul tree forest of the Gobi. Here, we'll retrace the path of Roy Chapman Andrews, the pioneering paleontologist who made significant early discoveries in Mongolia. Our visit will also include an introduction to the iconic desert dwellers, camels, and a chance to meet a nomadic camel breeding family, allowing us to experience the legendary hospitality of Mongolian nomads. To add a touch of adventure, we'll take a brief camel ride. Both lunch and dinner will be savored at our ger camp, where we'll spend the night. This morning, we'll set our course for Karakorum, the 13th-century capital of the Great Mongol Empire. Upon our arrival, we'll journey to the Erdene-Zuu Monastery, which holds the distinction of being not only the first but also the largest monastery in all of Mongolia. Here, we'll have the opportunity to explore numerous temples and bear witness to remarkably well-preserved examples of Buddhist Thangka paintings dating back to the 16th century. Our day's explorations will also include a visit to the often-overlooked yet unique Karakorum Museum, showcasing a wealth of ancient relics. We'll make our way to the Tsenkher hot spring, where we'll indulge in a day of unwinding in its natural spa and taking leisurely strolls in the nearby forest. Don't forget to bring your swimming attire, as this is your opportunity to take a dip in the soothing waters. If you're in the mood for some extra pampering, there are optional massage and beauty services available for your indulgence. After dinner, you can once again relish the soothing spa experience. Hustain Nuruu National Park
Day 13
Hustai Nuruu Natural Reserve Guided Tour
Following breakfast, we embark on our journey once more, heading to Hustain Nuruu National Park. Our primary quest here is to search for the Przewalski horses, also known as takhi, believed to be the ancestors of all horses in the world. If you have binoculars, don't forget to bring them to appreciate the remarkable natural beauty in detail. We'll also have the opportunity to watch a short documentary and visit the museum to further enrich our understanding of this unique ecosystem. We'll conclude our day with an overnight stay in a ger camp. The distance we'll cover today is 270 kilometers (169 miles). (B/L/D).
